Digital Frames
This is a Smorty entry for a digital photo frame company. Click on the link to go to their site! Let me start out by saying that I haven’t bought a frame from them. I’ve merely looked at their site and read pretty much everything they have on there. It makes me think they’re pretty smart by advertising through Smorty because I’m actually thinking about buying one after investigating their site!
They have four sizes: 7, 8, 9, and 10 inch digital frames. There are at least a couple of styles for each size. They come with a remote control and can accommodate 5 different varieties of cards and a number of picture formats. What is very cool, and I didn’t think about previously, was that they can play videos as well! They're not just digital photo frames, but digital video frames! That is just cool—a picture on your wall that’s moving. It’s powered by a power supply, so if you put it on your wall you’d have a wire hanging from it, but it’d go well on your desk, no problem!
Storage cards are pretty cheap these days, so you could have a card with pictures and videos from your wedding, one from your latest party, and one from your latest vacation and just change them at your whim! Or, just buy three of the digital picture frames and have them all going on at the same time! Too cool. If I do get one of these frames, then from now on, when I take a picture of someone, I’ll also take a three-second video, and then I can use the videos for the digital frames. With the short duration, I can fit a load of them on one card and have them cycling in the house. Don’t you want one now?

I have purchased a few frames over the last year or so either as gifts or for myself. The first one was something that didn't last very long, probably a good 10 minutes. I bought it through ritzcamera.com. Never again. At least I was able to return it with no hassle. I have also purchased the Westinghouse digital picture frame, and that one was very good. These are the smaller frames, so the resolution is pretty poor. There was one other that I bought that seems to still be working okay (these three were for gifts).
The one that I purchased for ourselves is a little bigger. I purchased it through Photo Vu and I must say it is a very nice unit. I wanted a higher resolution LCD so the pictures would be more clear to view. This one has all the bells and whistles like video and sound. The site also has frames that use a Wi-Fi connection, so you can stream the pictures from your computer. Pretty fancy.
I looked at the Photo Vu website and think they also have good products. The prices are a bit higher, but have more choices and bigger frames. I wonder why they don't accentuate the video and sound features of their frames. It may say so on their website, but I didn't see it.
Thanks for the info!
