Flickr just upgraded their "Pro" service to let you include videos!!! I have been thinking about upgrading my Flickr account to Pro (~$25 a year), but the deciding factor was that they wouldn't let you upload videos. I think most of my videos are less than 30 seconds, and their limit is 90 seconds! There is no limit on the NUMBER of videos, so there ya go! Totally worth it. Plus, I can finally put all my pics online, my family and friends can have TOTAL access to all of it, and it's linked to VOX. I'm a fan.
The picture to the side was when Steph (the girl on the right)'s mom was in town visiting and we were in a local old (probably older than the U.S.) Heidelberg bar (Zum Zeppl, mabye?) and we got a picture with the piano man. The rest of the pictures from that night are here, so click and see more pictures of Das Boot (not a direct translation). There are pictures of us sharing a drink, literally, even though Steph's mom only pretended to partake.
I like the picture of Bill with the beer--it looks like he's posing with his closest friend...or with a prospective girlfriend.
I like this picture, too, because you can see Steph's teeth. I'm not sure if she was smiling or if she always drinks like this, but I'm pretty sure she wasn't laughing. I'm not making fun of her, it's just a funny picture.
This clip is from Eastern Promises, which I finally saw. It's a great film about the Russian mob in London, it stars Viggo Mortenson, and it's from the same director that did A History of Violence. If one of those things sparks your interest, watch the movie. The clip is the funniest part of the movie, so if you haven't seen it, maybe you should watch the movie first. If the movie doesn't interest you in the slightest, or you don't care about ruining the funniest scene before you watch it, enjoy the clip!
This photo was sent to me from a colleague and it is simply brilliant! I thought it was just McCain at first. I don't know the source of the image (besides my colleague) and he only knows where he got it from, so if someone wants me to either take it down or point me to it's source, I'll either take it down or reference the source---until then, enjoy!
The offices in my section of the building share one Xerox printer/copier that prints cover sheets for each job which has the printer's name on it. One of my colleagues has been complaining recently that people will pick up their print jobs, but leave the cover sheets. I told her sometimes we're on the way to brief someone and leave it there temporarily. That's mostly true. Anyway, I had been saving our cover sheets for a few weeks. Last night I came back in and used about an hour of my time, less than one "roll" of tape (what do you call those little disposable Scotch(R) tape dispensers?), and the now obsolete cover sheets, and covered her desk with them.
Oh, and I also used short pieces of electrical tape on the bottom of all the mice in that office, as well as to hold down the hooks on the telephones so when you pick up, it keeps ringing. If you're reading this in the states, you may still have time to put a few pieces of tape strategically around the office.
The cover sheet joke took about 5 minutes to totally deconstruct, including shredding (the sheets just rolled into the shredder) and the colleague was smiling and was amused. Same with the phones and mice -- all taken in good fun, but, of course, with threats of retribution. No feelings hurt, no overreactions, no fraud, waste, or abuse, and no messy clean up. Mission success!!!
