When Natalya & I were in Venice, each morning we got a free coffee of our choice and pastry. That was the complimentary breakfast. About the breakfast, I'm not very complimentary, but it was better than nothing, and the price was right for the hotel, which was actually a hostel, and the location was great.
The coffee of our choice turned out to be cappuccino. The bariste (look it up on Wikipedia if you question my spelling) tried to always make a heart in the cream on top of the cappuccino, but somehow, in mine only, every day, it turned out looking like a butt. Take a look:
Natalya's in the foreground and mine behind. Get it: behind.
Natalya & I went to St. Mark's Square in Venice for New Year's 2007. We pushed our way, not so pushy, just kind of flowing with and around the crowd to pretty close to the stage that they had set up for the occasion. It was set up so if you're standing facing St. Mark's, it would be to your right, just before the water. They had some acrobats perform to take up time before the start of the New Year as well as some group that was almost like a choir.
When the clock hit midnight the fireworks started, choreographed to music. They were amazing! And they kept going for 15 minutes solid! I didn't get much footage, maybe a total of 10 seconds, but you can get an idea of how amazing these fireworks were from the videos. The last one was at the finale, and I shut it off because I thought the disk was full, and that I thought it was over, but it wasn't quite. Wow.
Natalya & I went to Venice for New Year's, 2007, and while we were there, we decided to go on a gondola ride. It was very romantic. It cost 70 euros. Yes, that's expensive, but it's a unique opportunity and they give you a little tour to go along with it. I took a small video of Natalya, and she started to talk, and then the guy asked if we wanted our picture taken, so I took him up on it.
